College Rankings of the University of Cambridge

In different rankings and different years, Cambridge always among the first few in the UK, and also among the best universities in the world.

Internationally, the university ranks among the top ten in many university rankings. The QS World University Rankings collaborated with the U.S. News & World Report has considered the second in its 2012 rankings. But had topped its ranking in the previous two years. Cambridge is ranked seventh in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (2012-13). Meanwhile, ARWU (2012) sees the fifth worldwide. In the ranking of the Guardian newspaper in 2012, Cambridge pulled ahead of Oxford to secure 1st place in the ranking, Cambridge had overtaken Oxford in philosophy, law, politics, theology, maths, classics, anthropology and modern languages.

A 2006 Newsweek ranking which combined elements of the THES-QS and ARWU rankings with other factors that purportedly evaluated "openness and diversity" of the institution overall indicated that Cambridge was ranked sixth in the world in general.

In the Guide to the 2008 Sunday Times University, Cambridge was ranked first for 11 consecutive years since the first publication of the guide in 1998. In 2008 times Good University Guide, Cambridge covered 37 of 61 thematic guide tables, including Law, Medicine, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics and Chemistry and has the best record on research, entry standards and graduate destinations amongst universities the UK. Cambridge was also awarded the University of the Year award.

In the 2009 Times Good University Guide Subject Rankings, Cambridge ranked top (or joint top) in 34 of the 42 subjects offered. The overall ranking placed Cambridge in second behind Oxford. The 2009 Guardian University Guide Rankings also placed Cambridge second in the UK behind Oxford.


In 2010, according to University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), is the second university in the UK and 11th university in the world.
