History - Harvard Graduate School of Design

Classes are devoted exclusively to architecture began at Harvard in 1893. The Faculty of Architecture acquired status of graduate school in 1914. The main design professions officially merged in 1936 to form the College of Design. Gund Hall, which is the current home of most master's programs in the GSD was opened in 1972 and was designed by Australian architect and GSD graduate John Andrews.
